Dr. John A. P. Vitarello is a preventive cardiologist specializing in the intersection of cardiovascular disease, obesity, and metabolic health.
Dr. Vitarello earned his Bachelor of Science, cum laude, from Gettysburg College and a Master’s degree in nutrition from Columbia University. His early work in clinical drug and device trials for weight loss at Weill Cornell Medical Center sparked his passion for cardiometabolic health. He draws on his nutrition background to deliver personalized dietary counseling rooted in evidence-based strategies.
He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2019, then completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard-affiliated hospital in Boston Massachusetts. He then went on to complete a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Vitarello holds board-certification in internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular imaging. He is affiliated with Inova Fairfax Hospital, Loudoun Hospital Center, and Reston Hospital Center, where he provides comprehensive, patient-centered care.
