Among First in Nation to be Awarded
ICANL/ICAEL Accreditation
Both of Cardiac Care Associates,
PC’s Diagnostic Nuclear
Imaging Centers have been granted accreditation by the Intersocietial
Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories
(ICANL). In addition, Cardiac Care’s Echocardiology Labs
have been accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the
Accreditation of Echocardiology Labs (ICAEL). The Cardiac Care
Associates centers in Fairfax, Virginia and Reston, Virginia
are among the first in the United States, Canada, and Puerto
Rico to be so recognized for their commitment to high quality
patient care and the provision of quality diagnostic testing.
The ICANL and ICAEL are non-profit organizations which provide
peer-reviewed, voluntary accreditation processes that recognize
facilities that provide high quality nuclear cardiology, nuclear
diagnostic evaluations, and echocardiology. They were established
with the support of numerous medical groups, including the American
Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the Society of Nuclear Medicine,
the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Section, the American
College of Cardiology, and the American College of Nuclear Physicians
and the Academy of Molecular Imaging (previously known as the
Institute for Clinical PET).
An independent agency reviews the facilities of offices that
choose to participate in the accreditation process. Offices
which are found to be committed to high standards of quality
testing and diagnosis are awarded the ICANL/ICAEL Accreditation.
